Final Meeting, Toledo 11-12 September
As soon as the IFLA Conference in Norway finished, the Spanish team started to prepare the Final Meeting for September 11th and 12th . The organization of the meetings held in Helsingbörg, Randers and Ljublijana was excellent and we wanted the whole team to have fond memories from the reunion in Toledo.
The agenda for the meeting in Toledo was distributed in two days. The first day it focused on work pending items and on the second one the future of TUNE was discussed.
Lillemor and Elisabeth opened the conference with a review of all the work done during the year, which included TUNE´s mission, the work already developed and what was left to be done. Afterwards, Bodil made a brief outline of the project evaluation.
We spent the rest of the morning talking and reflecting on those items the work team had agreed on in Lujblijana- communication, the theoretical part, cultural differences, the future of the project. In the afternoon a great brain storm took place. In it, proposals for continuing our fructiferous work joint efforts and the bringing to an end of this work year were thought of.
On the second day, we on the proposals thought during the previous afternoon, establishing and prioritizing actions for the immediate and long term future. In the evening we tour the beautiful city of Toledo, with a guide who explained its origin and history.
The meeting in Toledo has helped us to specify the ending work items of the project – translation of the model, updating of the web page…, but above all, it has help us to reflect on what working with librarians for other countries is. We have also realized that even though there are small cultural differences among our countries, we all believe that the public library is essential for the democratization of culture. Inger summarized what working together was very well. That is working under the same mission and feeling that we all belong to the same library. In regards to these, we believe that the methodology and planning of the work steps has been very important.
